A bound on the dissociation number

چکیده
The dissociation number diss ( G ) $\text{diss}(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the maximum order set vertices inducing subgraph that degree at most 1. Computing given algorithmically hard even when restricted to subcubic bipartite graphs. For with n $n$ vertices, m $m$ edges, k $k$ components, and c 1 ${c}_{1}$ induced cycles length modulo 3, we show ? ? 3 + $\text{diss}(G)\ge n-\frac{1}{3}(m+k+{c}_{1})$ . Furthermore, characterize extremal graphs in which every two are vertex-disjoint.

A Bound on the Total Chromatic Number
We prove that the total chromatic number of any graph with max imum degree is at most plus an absolute constant In particular we show that for su ciently large the total chromatic number of such a graph is at most The proof is probabilistic
متن کاملA bound on the Carathéodory number
The Carathéodory number κ(K) of a pointed closed convex cone K is the minimum among all the κ for which every element of K can be written as a nonnegative linear combination of at most κ elements belonging to extreme rays. Carathéodory’s Theorem gives the bound κ(K) ≤ dimK. In this work we observe that this bound can be sharpened to κ(K) ≤ `K−1, where `K is the length of the longest chain of no...
متن کاملOn trees attaining an upper bound on the total domination number
A total dominating set of a graph $G$ is a set $D$ of vertices of $G$ such that every vertex of $G$ has a neighbor in $D$. The total domination number of a graph $G$, denoted by $gamma_t(G)$, is~the minimum cardinality of a total dominating set of $G$. متن کاملA geometric lower bound on Grad's number
In this note we provide a new geometric lower bound on the so-called Grad's number of a domain Ω in terms of how far Ω is from being axisymmetric. Such an estimate is important in the study of the trend to equilibrium for the Boltzmann equation for dilute gases.
متن کاملLower bound on the minus-domination number
For a graph G, a function f : V (G) ! f?1; 0; +1g is called a minus-domination function of G if the closed neighborhood of each vertex of G contains strictly more
